Culinary Use of Camembert

Camembert

Camembert is a soft and creamy French cheese that is covered with a fine layer of beneficial white mold. Camembert is often confused with brie. They differ in that Camembert contains more fat, making it have a more distinct creamy taste.

Camembert melts easily - in just a few minutes at room temperature its core becomes so soft that it nearly starts to run.

That is exactly how Camembert needs to be served. So before you serve it to your guests, you need to remove it from the fridge at least half an hour before and to cut it, then leave at room temperature. If the Camembert has already softened you will not be able to cut it.

Camembert cheese is served with walnuts, chopped herbs and spices, figs, dates, grape seeds or is combined with other types of cheese.

In France, Camembert is often served with a warm baguette. When warmed, this cheese becomes even more delicious, which is why they use it to make pizzas, warm sandwiches or simply serve it baked with spices or fruits.

Camembert Cheese

Camembert is added to fruit salads and provides them with a unique taste. Fruit salad with Camembert is made from 1 pack of Camembert, half a pineapple, 1 kiwi, 1 orange, 1 apple, 1 chicory. For the dressing you will need 1 tbsp each of honey, lemon juice and olive oil.

Cut the chicory and put it in a plate. On top, put a mixture of the diced fruits. Just prior to serving, arrange thin slices of Camembert on top and pour on the dressing.

Baked Camembert with spices is also a fine temptation. You need 1 pack of Camembert, 1 garlic clove, 1 pinch of rosemary, 1 pinch of thyme, 1 tsp olive oil, black pepper to taste.

In a preheated 356°F (180°C) oven, place a tray with the Camembert, that has been pierced with a knife in several places ahead of time and then sprinkled with spices, with the garlic placed in one of the cuts.

Before baking, sprinkle the cheese with olive oil and black pepper. Bake until it catches a golden crust and serve warm.
