The 7th annual Spanish Gastrofestival kicked off on January 23 and will continue until February 7. The motto this year is "Eat Madrid" and the culinary event includes a number of different initiatives.
Beginning Monday, January 25, Madrid's museum Museo del Prado will be offering visitors a free exhibition themed Table with tablecloth. Culinary-themed paintings, primarily still lifes, will be displayed.
The events of Gastrofestival are organized and promoted by the International Gastronomy Summit Madrid Fusion and Madrid City Hall.
Many famous chefs will be participating in the culinary festival, presenting their latest ideas and predictions about new products and culinary techniques. With this, Madrid will become the world capital of cuisine for several days.
At Gastrofestival, private company owners will also be able to partake in the 2nd largest tourism trade fair in the world - Fitur.
Over 400 companies, institutions and food chains from around the world will be presenting their products. The greater majority of the organized events will be free entry.
The epicenter of the culinary festival will be the cultural center Conde Duque. It is used to host movie viewings, art workshops for kids and adults, concerts, with the underlying element always being food.
The group Cultivo and post-rock group Jardin de la Croix will be serving Spanish cheeses in combination with various beers Alhambra Reserva 1925 for tasting.
The program this year includes "Dinner with the stars", where internationally renowned chefs will be visiting different Madrid restaurants and preparing a myriad of dishes, with the focus being on truffles.
Food delivery service Deliveroo is also organizing a contest for best dish and the winner will walk away with 150 Euros.
The National Museum of Romanticism will be hosting a 19th-century style tea ceremony and provide taste samples of different kinds of tea.
