Tulumbas are a delicious and relatively easy dessert to make that's renowned all over the world. Their origins lie deep in the history of the Orient. As such, the best makers of this doughy temptation are the chefs from the Near East. Here are 3 scrumptious, easy-to-make tulumbas recipes from around the world:

Turkish Tulumbas

Ingredients: 1 cup warm water, 1 tbsp powdered sugar, 1 packet dry yeast, mixed with a little flour, 1 cup milk, 2 eggs, 1 tbsp oil, 1 tbsp salt, 1 packet vanilla, 2 1/2 cups flour. To make the syrup to pour over them you'll need 1 2/3 cups sugar, 1 1/5 cups water, 2 tbsp lemon juice, 1 packet vanilla.

Preparation: First, make the syrup. Boil the water along with the sugar, leave it to boil 10 min. Then add the remaining ingredients for the syrup and take the pot off the stove, leaving it to cool.

Mini Tulumbas

For the tulumbas, put the flour in a pile in a tray. Make a well in the middle and in it put the water, 1 of the eggs, oil, powdered sugar, yeast, salt and vanilla. Make a soft dough. Put the mixture in a pastry bag and spray out strips of it into highly heated oil. Another option is to make walnut-sized balls and then fry them. Take them out from the pan immediately and place them, while still hot, in the cooled syrup.

Armenian Tulumbas (Tulumbas with Cottage Cheese)

Ingredients: 2 cups no salt added cottage cheese or cream cheese, 1 tsp baking soda, 3 eggs, 2 1/2 cups flour. To make the syrup to pour over the prepared dessert you will need 2 cups sugar, 1 cup water and 1 packet vanilla.

Preparation: The wonderful thing about this recipe is that it's exceptionally easy. Mix all of the products in a deep container, stirring nonstop until you get a homogenous mixture. Fry the dough in highly heated oil; you can form the tulumbas using a pastry bag or a spoon. Fry until golden. Leave them to cool. Place them in a tray and pour the cooled, separately made sugar syrup over them.

Oven Baked Tulumbas

The nationality of this type of tulumbas is unknown but the ease with which they are made and their unique taste are suitable for the palate of any nationality.

Ingredients: 1 cup cold water, 2 cups flour, 1 cup oil, 1 tbsp salt, 6 eggs. For the syrup you'll need 2 cups water, 2 cups sugar, 2 packets vanilla.

Preparation: Boil the water, oil and salt together. Remove them from the stove and add all of the flour. Stir until you get a soft dough. Let it rest for 10 min. From the prepared dough, spray tulumbas right into an oven dish with baking paper. Put the tulumbas to bake in a 356°F (180 °C) oven until they turn pink. Once they cool, pour the cooled sugar syrup over them.
