Aspartame is an artificial sweetener, used as a food additive sugar substitute. It refers to synthetic sweeteners and can be absorbed by the body, unlike glucose. Sweeteners, such as sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol and hydrogenated glucose syrup have a very similar calorific value as refined sugar and replace it in many packaged foods, but they are not easily absorbed by the body.

Aspartame is a low-calorie option, widely used in the food industry to sweeten all sorts of dishes. Other names of aspartame are: Saccharin, Equal, Nutrasweet, Monsanto, Searle, Equal Measure, Spoonful, Canderal (E951).

For people who have diabetes or just want to soak up excess calories, aspartame is a kind of solution for when they want to sweeten coffee or tea. There are already a large number of studies that show harm from the use of aspartame and more opposed to this artificial sweetener, which is often referred to as "white death", "sweet death", "slow death", "sweet killer" etc..

On the other side stand manufacturers and companies that put aspartame in their products and their research funded by various institutes, show lack of risk of injury from minor amounts Aspartame, integrated into their products. In response, opponents answer that aspartame should not even be called a dietary supplement and used by people. It is not a natural product, does not improve the diet of man and is not safe to anyone.

Fiercest enemies of the sweetener aspartame are adamant that it was wrong of fertilizers Health Federation of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), a branch of the Canadian Health Protection, the World Health Organization (WHO) and over 100 other regulatory organizations. It has been shown that aspartame in liquid turns into formaldehyde when thawed and it is devastating for diabetics.

Aspartame poisoning and injury occurs gradually, by-products of aspartame are superimposed on the body fat. There are also clinical cases of various ailments and diseases caused by aspartame. In fact, aspartame causes disease mimicking, so doctors often can not properly diagnose it. It is believed that consumption of aspartame and the harm it causes to the body is irreversible.

Diet Drinks

Aspartame , which is about 200 times sweeter than sugar, was discovered accidentally in 1965 by Jim Shlater working in pharmaceutical company "Searle" who was trying to find new ways to treat stomach ulcers and in particular, make a drug against ulcers. Accidentally, while making attempts, he poured out tubes of the substance and found its sweet taste. This synthetic sweetener is made from two amino acids: phenylalanine and aspartic acid.

In 1980, the Public Board of Inquiry unanimously voted to stop using aspartame.

But with the advent to power of Ronald Reagan, director of the Food and Drug Arthur Hayes gives green light to use the sweetener. In the years following a complex network of political and lobbying processes took place, resulting in aspartame became the darling of the food industry and conquering the world market.

Composition of aspartame

The composition of aspartame contains aspartic acid, phenylalanine and methanol, which is itself toxic in large quantities (tens, to hundreds of grams). The ingredients in aspartame are in a ratio of approximately 50% phenylalanine, 40% acid and 10% methanol.

Aspartic acid is a natural amino acid and is insubstantial. Among its functions is the creation of new DNA, and neuro transmitting to the brain. Nature has invented our bodies so that they can control the amount of aspartic acid itself. If there is an excess of aspartic acid, the body turns it into energy.

Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid which acts as a stimulus for the synthesis of tyrosine and neurotransmitters. To synthesize phenylalanine tyrosine specific enzyme is needed. Methanol itself is a poisonous alcohol in larger quantities. The alcohol in aspartame is quite small and not considered a dangerous amount. There are claims that there is more methanol in tomato juice than in a diet soda .

Where aspartame is used

Aspartame is used in a huge number of products on the market. Everything that is labeled "light" is actually added aspartame. 22 years ago, NutraSweet signed an agreement with leading companies on sodas and now their products are made with this sweetener. Ironically, aspartame is harmful for most people with diabetes, and is put in great amounts in dietary products.

Damage from aspartame

It is believed that aspartame can cause 92 diseases, including death, in the rarest cases. It is shocking that there is even one death caused by regular consumption of foods with aspartame. That aspartame is responsible for about 75 percent of the adverse reactions caused by food additives, is proven by reports to the monitoring system of the side effects to FDA from 1985 to now, which has an official record of 92 symptoms of over 10, 000 official complaints filed (currently, the number is growing).

A huge number of studies have shown that aspartame causes much discomfort, which in most cases we think is the result of everyday stress, fatigue and stress. The signs include headaches, fatigue, dizziness, depression, nausea, weight gain, rashes, problems with hearing and vision, fear anxiety, heart problems and breathing difficulties, memory problems, loss of taste, impaired speech, dizziness and vertigo, joint pain and more.
