"Making beans in a clay pot is a classic, and when you share it with friends and loved ones - it`s an absolute treat"

Ingredients

  • beans - 14 oz (400 g) white
  • oil - 3 - 4 tbsp
  • onions - 1 head, or 1 leek
  • garlic - 2 - 3 cloves
  • peppers - 2 whole dried + 1 tablespoon ground
  • chili peppers - 1
  • tomato paste - 2 - 3 tablespoons
  • carrots - 1 - 2
  • mint - 1 teaspoon
  • savory - 1 tsp
  • paprika - 1 tsp
  • black pepper - to taste

How to make

Soak the beans a night in advance in cold water. The next day, boil it in new water and discard it. Put it to boil again, with 3 tablespoons oil, the chopped carrots, chopped onion and garlic, dried whole peppers and a chili pepper.

Once it's been boiling a bit, add the crushed pepper and other spices (except the paprika) together with salt to taste.

Transfer the beans to a clay pot and mix in the tomato paste and paprika. Put the lid on and bake in the oven for 2 hours on medium heat.
