Ingredients

  • pastry - 2 packs fine
  • butter - 1 cup (250 g)
  • eggs - 6.
  • sugar - 1 cup
  • flour - 1 cup
  • walnuts - 1 cup broken
  • baking powder - 1 packet
  • for the syrup
  • sugar - 3 cups
  • water - about 4 1/5 cups (1 liter)
  • vanilla - 1 - 2 sachets

How to make

Melt half the butter in the pan in which you will cook the greek baklava. Add the sheets, pre-cut into strips with a thickness of about 0.6″ (1.5 cm). Beat eggs with flour, sugar and baking powder and pour over the crust in the pan.

Sprinkle the top with chopped walnuts. Then spread the other pastry and pour the melted butter with the other. Put to bake in preheated oven at about 430°F (220 °C) for about 40 minutes. Prepare in a sugar syrup on the stove, stirring the water with sugar and vanilla for about 10 minutes. I like to add and lemon peel in it too.

Skewer the baked baklava and let it take some time. Pour over cooled baklava with hot syrup. Allow to stand for 1 night before we cut it into pieces.
