Ingredients

  • milk - 4/5 cup (200 ml)
  • oil - 4/5 cup (180 ml)
  • flour - 1 4/5 cups (450 g)
  • sugar - 1 1/5 cups (300 g)
  • walnuts - 3 1/3 tbsp (50 g)
  • baking powder - 1 packet
  • rum - 2 tsp (10 ml)
  • vanilla - 1 packet
  • eggs - 3

How to make

Beat the egg yolks with some of the sugar and the oil. Gradually add milk and mix it well with a mixer. Sieve the flour and baking powder and while stirring continuously, gradually add it to the mixture. Add vanilla and rum and crushed walnuts.

Finally add the egg whites that have been beaten with the remaining sugar. Stir the mixture gently with a spatula to avoid deflating, after which, pour it into a greased pie form. Bake in a preheated 360°F (180 °C) oven.

Check to see if it is ready by using a toothpick. Crumbs must not stick to it after you pull it out from the pie. If necessary, cover the pie with foil to prevent burning at the top and help it bake on the inside.
