  • rabbit - 1
  • shallots - 2 lb (1 kg), or coarsely chopped leeks
  • sour cream - 2 cups (500 ml)
  • processed cheese - 9 oz (250 g)
  • butter - 1 packet
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • basil - dry
  • caraway - chopped, to taste


Portion the rabbit into pieces and fry them in melted butter to a pink color. Move the braised rabbit to an oven dish. Clean the onions or chop the leeks coarsely and fry them in the same butter, then put them in with the rabbit.

In a small dish on the stove, heat the cream and mix it with the sliced processed cheese until melted. Season it with salt, pepper, crushed caraway and basil.

Pour it over the rabbit and onions and put them to bake for an hour in a moderate oven with the lid on.
