Ingredients

  • for the layer
  • flour - 2 cups
  • sugar - 1 cup
  • cocoa - 2 tablespoons
  • coffee - 1/2 cup, sweetened
  • water - 1/2 cup
  • oil - 3 - 4 tablespoons
  • baking powder - 2 tsp (10 g)
  • vanilla - 1
  • for the syrup
  • water - 1 cup
  • sugar - 1/2 cup
  • for the glaze
  • chocolate - 7 oz (200 g)
  • oil - 2 - 3 tablespoons
  • walnuts - 1 cup

How to make

Mix the flour, sugar and cocoa with the baking powder and vanilla together in a bowl. Separately mix the coffee, water and oil in another bowl.

Pour the liquid mixture in a thin stream into the bowl with the dry ingredients and stir well until the mixture becomes smooth. Put it into a greased tray with a diameter of 9 1/2″ (24 cm) and bake for about 20 minutes in an oven preheated to 360°F (180 °C).

After removing from the oven, cool the layer. Prepare the syrup and while still warm, sprinkle the cake with it. For the glaze, melt the chocolate in a water bath with the oil, you can add 2-3 tablespoons of milk or liquid confectionery cream.

Then put the sliced or chopped walnuts on top. Coat the cake on all sides and cool for several hours before eating.
