"Forget about butter and oil, the tastiest shortbread is made with lard!"

Ingredients

  • lard - 2 cups (500 g)
  • sugar - 1 1/2 cup
  • eggs - 3
  • flour - 2 lb (1 kg)
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • vanilla - 2 packets
  • lemons - grated lemon rind
  • nuts - whole, by choice

How to make

Beat the softened lard with the sugar. Add the baking soda and the eggs one at a time. Gradually knead a dough with the flour.

Finally, add the vanilla and grated lemon rind. Shape pellets, arrange them in a tray with baking paper and press lightly with a cup or something similar.

Optionally, place a nut in each one. Bake them in a low, pre-heated oven to pinking.
