"A fragrant pita such as this will bring the entire family around the table."

Ingredients

  • whole wheat flour - 4/5 cup (200 g)
  • flour - 1 1/5 cups (300 g), white
  • yeast - 1/2 packet of fresh
  • honey - 1 tablespoon
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • oil - 5 tablespoons
  • milk - 2/3 cup (150 ml)
  • water - 2/3 cup (150 ml)
  • butter - to spread

How to make

Dissolve the yeast in the cool water and milk with a spoon of sugar and 2-3 tablespoons of white flour. Mix well and leave it in a warm area for 15 minutes. Then add the honey, salt, oil, and the two types of flour gradually.

Knead a smooth elastic dough and divide it into two parts. Roll each part into a rectangle, brush it with melted butter and roll them up into rolls.

In a buttered tray, wrap the two rolls together into a snail shell shape. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in volume.

Optionally, sprinkle it with seeds of some kind. Put the risen pita with whole wheat flour to bake in a moderately heated oven. Optionally, brush the freshly baked whole wheat bread with butter.
