"Every afternoon I get a hankering for something sweet and I inevitably think of these sweet fritters."

Ingredients

  • milk - 4/5 cup (200 ml), chilled
  • sugar - 1/3 cup (80 g)
  • butter - 1/3 cup (80 g)
  • eggs - 2
  • salt - 1 pinch
  • flour - 2 cups (500 g)
  • yeast - 1 1/3 tsp (7 g) dry, or 1 1/3 tbsp (20 g) fresh
  • fruits - for stuffing, from a jam or marmalade
  • powdered sugar - for sprinkling

How to make

Beat the sugar, eggs and butter. Add all other products and finally - the flour. Knead a dough and let it rise. Roll out the risen dough into a sheet with a thickness of 0.5″ (1 cm) with your hands, cut out rectangles, put in a little fruit or jam and tuck by pressing the edges well.

Arrange the fritters in a buttered pan and smear them with a little butter. Leave them to rise, then bake for 20 minutes at 430°F (220 °C). Serve sprinkled with powdered sugar.
