"We`ve taken quite a liking to these Norwegian Buns. We recommend them with all our heart."

Ingredients

  • yeast - 3 1/3 tbsp (50 g) fresh
  • margarine - 3 1/3 tbsp (50 g) melted
  • milk - 4/5 cup (200 ml)
  • water - 1 1/5 cups (300 ml)
  • sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • flour - 3 1/5 cups (780 g)
  • rye flour - 1 1/3 cups (320 g)

How to make

Dissolve the yeast in a pot, heated on the stove with the water, milk and sugar. Then leave the mixture in a warm area for 10 minutes. Add the melted margarine and 2/3 of the flours. Knead a dough, gradually adding the rest of the flours. Kneading the dough should take about 10 minutes.

Cover with a towel and leave it for an hour and a half to rise, or until increased in volume. Once risen, divide the dough into 20 parts. Form them into buns and arrange them in a baking tray.

Cover and leave them for 30 minutes. Heat the oven to 440°F (225 °C). Smear the buns with cooking cream or an egg yolk beaten with water.

Bake for 15 minutes or until golden.
