Peel the potatoes and onions, cut them into thin slices. In a buttered oven dish, arrange a row of onions, then a row of potatoes.

Salt and arrange the steaks on top, salt them as well. Cover with the remaining onions and potatoes, sprinkle with oil.

Dilute the tomato paste in a warm cup of water and pour it over the dish. Cover it with foil and bake for about 90 min. in a moderate oven.
