How to make

Sift the dry ingredients - the flour, baking soda, baking powder and cocoa in a bowl.

In another bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar, add the oil, stir until homogeneous.

Combine the dry and liquid ingredients, while stirring at the same time and gradually pouring in the milk.

Grease and flour a round form, put the cake mixture in it.

Bake in a preheated 340°F (170 °C) oven for about 40 min. or until a toothpick comes out dry.

Once ready, take it out of the oven and cut it into pieces haphazardly. Leave it to cool.

Make a sugar syrup by heating the water and dissolving the sugar in it. Leave it on the stove to come to a boil and stir until you get a syrup.

While the syrup is still warm, pour it over the cold cake and leave in the fridge for at least 6 hours to soak it in.

Before serving, smear the top of the cake with sour cherry jam; this combination is just spectacular.
