"Want to know how to quickly make some easy treats for guests or family? Check out this recipe idea with phyllo pastry sheets here."

Ingredients

  • phyllo pastry - 14 oz (400 g), sheets
  • for the syrup
  • sugar - 2 cups
  • water - 2 cups
  • lemon juice - 1 tbsp
  • oil - 1 cup, for frying
measures

How to make

Take a phyllo pastry sheet from the package, sprinkle it lightly with oil, smear its narrower side with a brush dipped in water. Take a 2nd phyllo pastry sheet and place it atop the 1st, smearing it the same way.

Fold the 2 sheets in half and sprinkle them one more time on the side you sprinkled water on, then wrap them into a roll. What you end up with is like a long, thin cigarette. Repeat this process for all of the sheets, cut them into cigars and fry in heated oil until golden.

Take them out with a slotted spoon and put them in the syrup, made by boiling the water and sugar for 5 min. with the lemon juice. Keep the treats in the syrup while you're frying the next set of them, then arrange in a plate!

Enjoy!
