Ingredients

  • ayran - 1 1/5 cups (300 ml)
  • yeast - 1 1/3 tbsp (20 g)
  • water - 2/5 cup (100 ml), for the yeast
  • eggs - 1
  • sugar - 1 tbsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • feta cheese - 5.5 oz (150 g)
  • flour - 2 1/2 cups (600 g)

How to make

Dissolve the yeast in the cool water with the sugar and leave it to bubble for 10 min. Knead a medium soft dough from the remaining ingredients (excluding the feta cheese).

Leave it to rise in a warm area, covered with a towel, for 30 min.

Tear small balls from the dough and arrange them in a buttered oven dish.

After 10 min., make the topping. Heat the oil and butter in a pan, braise the flour and pour this over the loaf. Then, sprinkle with crumbled feta cheese.

Preheat the oven to 360°F (180 °C) and bake to a crunchy crust. Serve with a glass of milk and sprinkle powdered sugar on top, if desired.
