"An apple a day keeps the doctor away. I ate 4."

  • eggs - 1
  • salt
  • sugar - 2 tbsp
  • milk - 1/2 cup
  • oranges - 1
  • vanilla - 2/5 tsp (2 g) powder packet

  • for sprinkling
  • cinnamon
  • sugar
  • for frying
  • oil - 2 cups (500 ml)
measures

How to make

Beat the eggs with the milk and grated rind of the orange in a bowl.

In another bowl, put the flour, sugar, baking powder, pinch of salt and vanilla. Stir and add in the egg mixture.

Beat with a whisk until homogeneous - the breading needs to be a little thicker than pancake dough. If it's too thick, add a little more milk and if it's too thin - flour.

Put the oil in a pot and heat it up to 330°F (165 °C).

Clean and peel the apples, cut them in halves, then in quarters. Squeeze the juice from the orange over them.

Dip each piece of apple in the breading and fry on both sides in the oil. Take them out onto a metal cooking grid to drain from the oil.

Mix together the cinnamon and sugar in a plate and roll the ready apples in the mixture. You can eat them both warm, as well as cold.
