"An incredibly delicious homemade walnut cake for any day of the week, for old and young alike. And as they always say - grandma cooks best."

Ingredients

  • eggs - 8
  • sugar - 1 1/2 cups
  • oil - 8 tbsp
  • flour - 2 1/2 cups
  • baking powder - 1
  • lemons - grated rind of 1 lemon
  • cream
  • milk - 5 4/5 cups (1.4 L)
  • vanilla starch - 2
  • sugar - 1 cup
  • walnuts - 2/3 cup (150 g) for decoration

How to make

Beat the eggs with the sugar and oil. Add the flour and baking powder. Add the grated rind of 1 lemon, which you can substitute with 2 packets of vanilla. Divide the prepared mixture into 2 equal parts and bake in an oiled tray with baking paper in a preheated 360°F (180 °C) about 15 min. per layer.

Boil the milk and sweeten it with sugar. Dissolve 2 starches in 2/3 cup (150 ml) cool water and add them to the milk.

Pour a little of the cream at the bottom of a suitable platter and place the layer with the bottom part facing up - so that it absorbs the cream better. Pour on 1/2 the cream, sprinkle with a handful of ground walnuts. Place the 2nd layer on top and cover with the remaining cream and walnuts.

Cool for a few hours and serve!
