Ingredients

  • for the filling
  • mince - 18 oz (500 g) beef
  • onions - 3 heads
  • carrots - 2
  • flour - 1 tbsp
  • vegetable broth - 1 1/5 cups (300 ml)
  • tomato paste - 1 tbsp
  • parsley - 10 sprigs fresh
  • oil - 3 1/3 tbsp (50 ml)
  • salt
  • pepper - to taste
  • for the mashed potatoes
  • potatoes - 6 boiled
  • leeks - 2 - 3 sprigs
  • butter - 2 oz (60 g)

Preparation

Sauté the chopped onion in the oil. Once braised, add the finely chopped carrots and sauté for a few more minutes. Add the mince and stir until it breaks down and changes color.

Add the chopped parsley, salt, black pepper to taste, as well as the flour and mix well. Add the vegetable stock with the tomato paste dissolved in it. Leave it to cook on low heat for half an hour.

Separately, braise the finely chopped leeks in the butter. Allow them to cool well, and in the meantime mash the potatoes into a puree.

Mix the puree with the leeks and add salt to taste. Pour it in a rectangular baking dish with the minced meat mixture. Spread the mashed potatoes on top, smooth out with a fork and make a few lines on top.

Put the cottage pie to bake in a preheated 392°F (200 °C) oven for 15-20 minutes or until the mashed potatoes are browned.find similar recipes here
