Heat the olive oil in a deep pan on moderate heat.

Chop the onions and carrots finely. Add them to the heated olive oil. Stir and cook until softened - 5-10 min.

Add the finely chopped garlic and tomato paste, stir and cook another 1 min.

Add the tomato juice, diced tomatoes, basil, oregano, baking soda. Season with salt and black pepper.

Stir the lentils with all of the products and add the water. Boil on moderate heat, while stirring from time to time until the lentils soften - 20-30 min.find similar recipes here
