Frozen dough, like most frozen products, can be defrosted in many ways, each of which takes a different amount of time. A much different thought is whether it is a good idea to try to defrost dough quickly.
The best option is to take the dough out of the freezer the night before and let it defrost naturally at room temperature or in the refrigerator. But if time is of the essence and we need to defrost dough quickly, we can try some other techniques.
The easiest way to defrost dough is to take it out of the freezer and leave it in a warm place, which means next to a heated stove, in direct sunlight or directly under the warm air conditioner.
You can also defrost dough quickly in the microwave, if it has a defrost setting. Simply place the frozen dough in a suitable bowl, plate or special microwave box and choose the defrost program as well as the weight of the dough.
Dough can be defrosted quickly in a water bath as well. Defrosting in a water bath is done by placing a dry container on a bowl of hot water and placing the dough in it.
One of the reasons we cook with dough is to make a fluffy and tender bread loaf. However, if you are in a hurry to defrost the dough, you risk not getting this expected effect.
The dough needs time and warm air to rise well, so it is best to defrost the dough beforehand and give it the necessary time to set, so that you don't have to compromise with its taste. But if you have still decided to prepare something at the last minute with dough, then use some of the methods described above for defrosting.
