Almonds are nuts with a very high nutritional value. Like other nuts, almonds are rich in a number of vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin E, calcium, phosphorus, iron. magnesium, zinc, selenium, copper and niacin.
Almonds also have proven healing properties and along with their good taste, rank among the top most consumed nuts.
Almonds can be eaten raw or roasted.
Almonds are a good part of foods recommended for diets and balanced diets. They are used as an ingredient in many culinary recipes. Some of these recipes require them to be peeled. The easiest and fastest way to peel almonds is by blanching them.
For this purpose, a container with water is placed on the hob. Once the water boils, put the almonds inside of it for about one or two minutes. Then remove them with a strainer or a slotted spoon. Each almond is rubbed between your fingers and their skin should be extremely easy to remove.
The peeled almonds are placed onto a napkin to remove moisture, after which they are ready for use in the recipe you have selected.
Another option is to soak them in cold water overnight. In the morning they are ready for their skin to be removed. It's a matter of preference which option you will choose.
