Rice is used in the cuisine of many nations. In most cases, the rice is boiled. To properly cook the rice, you need one part rice and two parts water, salt and a saucepan with a tight lid.
There are many different types of rice, which have a different consistency when cooked. Rice that is prepared according to a traditional recipe, can play the role of a stand-alone dish or as an ingredient in the making of more complex recipes with rice.
Wash the rice well until the water left behind is completely clear. Turbid water means that the rice contains a lot of starch, which makes it sticky when cooked.
Boil water, add salt, pour in the rice and close the pot with the lid. Do not open the lid or stir the rice. Cook the rice for five minutes on high heat.
Then reduce the stove to medium heat and cook for two minutes. The last two minutes of cooking should be on a very low heat. Then turn off the stove.
Do not remove the pan and do not open the lid for another ten minutes. Then open the lid and you will find that the rice is fully cooked and each grain should separate from the others.
The good thing about this cooking method is that the rice does not burn during the boiling process, which means that you will not have to remove the burnt bits.
Serve the cooked rice with a sauce from roasting meat, in which you have added your choice of spices and finely chopped green spices.
You can make rice sauce by cutting chicken into small pieces and frying it, then add onions and tomato sauce and stew it until the meat softens.
