Dishes with potatoes are always very difficult to choose among. Probably because, as well as to prepare them, potatoes are always delicious, and even better is that most recipes do not need many products.
A popular vegetarian dish is potato stew, which takes only onions, carrots, potatoes and tomato paste. Except that it’s quick and very tasty, it’s even better if you add some savory at the end of cooking.
Here is our suggestion for stew, but with wine and a slightly different flavor:
Potatoes with red wine
Preparation: Peel the potatoes, wash and cut them into pieces. In oil, fry your meal, the goal is to acquire a brownish color. Then put the water and wine in, and a little salt. Add all the spices and then put the potatoes in. Cover the top with a lid and let it boil for an hour.
Another beloved vegetarian dish with potato sits here. We put a lot of vegetables, but it is made a little slower. For all the vegetables that it contain, you are having to spend special time on cutting. On the other hand we can cook baked potatoes in the oven - they do not need long preparation and we can experiment with spices. We can add cheese or feta.
The problem in the preparation of meals with potatoes is that in most recipes, there are contained fresh milk and eggs. The following two recipes are variations of moussaka and include milk and eggs. The first recipe can be changed if you wish:
Moussaka with onions, mushrooms and potatoes
Preparation: Cut the onion into slices and nip it in the fat. After it’s soft, remove it and place the potatoes, which are also sliced to be braised. When you are finished with them, add the oil in the dish and fry the mushrooms. In a tray brushed with oil, begin to stack - potatoes, onions, then the mushrooms and again a row of potatoes, etc.
It is recommended to add to each line black and red pepper, maybe a little salt. Once done with vegetables, pour in some grated tomatoes and bake until the liquid evaporates. Optionally, make a sauce of two beaten eggs and pepper. Bake.
Our next suggestion is again moussaka, but this time with spinach.
Potato moussaka with spinach
Ingredients: 1 kg spinach, 6 potatoes, 3 tomatoes, salt, fat, savory, 1 tablespoon flour, 1 tsp paprika
Preparation: Boil the spinach, then fry it in 1 tablespoon of flour and a little red pepper. The potatoes are baked in an oven, and then peel off and pressed. The mixture is seasoned with a little salt and herbs and fry gently in oil or olive oil. Then began to put in a pan (pre-greased) a line of spinach, potato row and so on until both products are finished.
Top with tomatoes cut into rings, then bake moussaka in a hot oven for no more than 20 minutes. Optionally, you can add other spices. Also, if you prefer, substitute spinach with dock or nettle. It’s even more delicious if you use all three.
