Economical Homemade Sweets


Homemade sweets cannot compare to the most delicious ones bought from a store. They may not end up perfect but the aroma that wafts around your home throughout the entire day is one-of-a-kind. Here are our recipes for sweets.

Turkish delight sweets

Ingredients: 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup yoghurt, 1/2 cup lard, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, a pinch of salt and a pinch of sugar.

Preparation: Sift the flour and place it in a large bowl - form a well in the center, where you will then add the yoghurt, baking soda, lard, salt and sugar. Begin to gather the flour toward the center of the well and gradually knead a dough.

Powdered Sweets

Then roll it out using a rolling pin - have the thickness be about 3/16" (5 mm). Cut out squares and place a piece of Turkish delight - you can wrap them up into rolls or simply press the edges of the dough together with your fingers. Arrange in an oiled tray and bake until pink. While still warm, sprinkle with the powdered sugar. If you prefer, you can use butter instead of lard.

Our next proposal is for sweets with lemon zest. They are fairly quick to make and are incredibly suitable as an addition to a flavorful cup of coffee. Put 4/5 cup of flour in a bowl, then add 2/5 cup of butter - divide it into pieces.

Begin to make crumbs along with the flour - then add in 1/5 cup of powdered sugar, the lemon zest (grated beforehand), 2 egg yolks. Knead a dough, rip chunks out and form them into bagel-like shapes. Arrange them in a tray, that has been buttered and floured beforehand.

Bake until pink. If you have another egg, you can smear the sweets with a whisked egg yolk before baking and then sprinkle ground walnuts on top. Even without them, the bagels turn out superbly delicious.

The last recipe is for biscuits, which don't require a lot of ingredients:

Biscuits with yoghurt

Ingredients: 2 cups yoghurt, 1 tablespoon oil or butter, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 4 cups flour.

Preparation: "Extinguish" the baking soda in the yoghurt and sift the flour. Beat the butter and add the sugar, yoghurt and then the flour gradually.

Knead a soft dough, roll out a sheet from it. Using cookie-cutter shapes or a plain cup, cut up the dough. Arrange them in a greased tray, sprinkled with flour. Bake the biscuits until pink.
