The Bermuda grass health benefits

Bermuda grass has a purgative and diuretic effect. The herb decreases blood pressure and increases cardiac contractility by slowing cardiac activity. It is often used in healing various types of swelling, constipation, colitis and other ailments.

In folk medicine, Bermuda grass is also known as an herb which relieves rheumatism pain. Bermuda grass aids against liver problems, cough, prostatitis, inflamed bowels, infertility.

When picked, dry the herb in a ventilated area - you will know that the roots are fully dried when a popping sound is made when they are broken. Here are a few Bermuda grass recipes for different ailments:

- A Bermuda grass remedy can be made in the following manner: put 0.5 oz (20 g) of the rhizomes of the herb in 1 cup (250 ml) of boiling water. Drink one cup of the blend before meals.

- For eczema, mix together 1 teaspoon each of the following herbs: elecampane roots, walnut leaves, Bermuda grass roots, leaves and branches of smoketree. Make an infusion of the herbs and apply compresses of it to the affected areas.

- For hemorrhoids, you will need the following herbs: 3.5 oz (100 g) Bermuda grass, yellow yarrow, common centaury and 2 oz (50 g) of each of the following: burdock roots, carline thistle roots, a whole dandelion and shepherd's purse without the roots.

Divide the resulting mixture into 10 doses - boil each dose in 1.5 gal (5 L) of water until only 8 1/3 cups (2 L) remain. If suffering from a severe form of hemorrhoids, drink from the blend 5 times daily, and if not so severe - it's enough to drink 3 doses per day.

If suffering from severe hemorrhaging, increase the amount of shepherd's purse 3 times (i.e. use 5.5 oz (150 g)). After you take in 2 doses, stop drinking the elixir for 3 days.

- If you are suffering from sand in the kidneys, the following remedy will help you: mix together 1 tablespoon of Bermuda grass roots, 1 tablespoon hazel leaves, 2 tablespoons of barley and 2 tablespoons of oats. Pour 6 1/5 cups (1.5 L) of water over everything and boil the mixture for 1 1/2 hours in a closed container on low heat.

The goal is to end up with a concoction of about 2 cups (500 ml). Strain while the blend is still hot and add lemon juice. Drink it instead of water for about a month.
