Since Halloween is a holiday linked with all kinds of scary, chilling creatures, the dishes on the kitchen table need to create a similar atmosphere. There are a number of recipes which are always prepared on All Hallows' Eve.
In the Western world, it is mandatory to make pumpkin pie, since the pumpkin is the main symbol of the holiday.
Make the puree by boiling and mashing 1 pumpkin that weighs no more than 1.5 lb (700 g).
Mix the flour with all of the other products for the layer until you get a crumbly blend. Then gradually add water until you get a dough. Wrap the dough in a plastic bag and put it in the fridge for about half an hour.
Next, begin to prepare the stuffing. First beat the eggs with the sugar and cream using a mixer. Then add the spices, and finally the pumpkin puree, until you get a homogeneous mixture.
Roll out the layer into a thickness of about 2″ (5 cm), put it in a pie form, carefully pushing the edges along the walls of the form.
Pour on the stuffing on top and bake in a moderate oven. After it has been baked, let it sit for a little while in the refrigerator before serving.
On Halloween you can also prepare the extraordinarily popular, Dracula's blood punch. For it you will need 8 1/3 cups of cherry juice, the rinds of 3 oranges, 1 red chili pepper, 3 cinnamon sticks and 6 thin slices of ginger.
Boil the products on the stove for 5 min. and once cooled, serve, adding vodka if desired. If serving the punch to little kids, be sure not to add the chili pepper.
Among other suitable treats for Halloween are all kinds of biscuits and bonbons. You can prepare your favorite cookies or biscuits, and just change their shape - form them into a witch's fingers, a pumpkin or evil eyes.
