Even though the word healthy is not a strictly defined concept, especially when it comes to desserts, there are sweet foods that easily surpass even one's boldest expectations of sweet and healthy. Examples are the wonderful creations bearing the label vegetarian that are made at home.
In fact, vegetarian and vegan recipes are much easier and quicker to prepare. There's no annoying separation of egg whites and egg yolks, whipping to powdery snow and so on. So today we will familiarize you with several superb and appetizing recipes that contain no products of animal origin but do instead require carbonated water.
1. Cake with Apples and Bananas
Ingredients: 2/5 cup carbonated water, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 2 tsp baking powder, 2 cups flour, 4 tbsp oil, 2 apples, 1 banana, 10 tbsp sugar, 5 tbsp oil, 1 cup white wine, 2 drops of almond essence.
Preparation: Beat together the carbonated water, baking powder, 4 tablespoons oil and 1/2 cup powdered sugar. Add the flour and mix with a spoon until you get a smooth cake dough. Pour the dough into a baking form with a nonstick coating. Arrange crescent slices of the peeled apples on top in a circle.
Place round slices of the banana in the middle. Bake the cake in the oven until fully ready. Once it cools little, take it out from the form and glaze it. Make a glaze by 1st caramelizing the sugar (10 tablespoons), then add the oil (5 tablespoons), white wine (1 cup) and almond essence (2 drops). Boil everything until thickened, then smear it on the cake while still warm.
2. Tasty Pancakes
Ingredients: 1-2 cups whole grain or combination of whole grain and all-purpose flour, a pinch of salt and carbonated water.
Preparation: Mix all of the ingredients so that you get a relatively thick mixture. Beat with a hand blender for best results. Heat a non-Teflon pan and smear its bottom with oil. Pour in a ladle of the mixture and fry a pancake until you see dots on the surface, then flip it over.
3. Apple Fritters
Ingredients: 2/5 cup flour, 1 cup carbonated water, 2 tbsp sugar, 1 apple, 1 cinnamon packet, salt, powdered sugar, oil.
Preparation: Make a dough from the flour, sugar, salt and carbonated water. Add the peeled and finely diced apples to the dough, along with a pinch of cinnamon for flavor. Form small fritters with a tablespoon and then fry them in oil until slightly pink. Once ready, put the small fritters in a plate and sprinkle with the rest of the cinnamon and the powdered sugar.
