Bitter Foods - a Health Remedy


Bitter foods may actually turn out to be a real health remedy for humans. According to Ayurveda and traditional Indian medicine, all diseases can be cured through stimulation of the taste receptors in the tongue. Taste therapy is also based on this.

In different parts of the tongue there are receptors which correspond to different parts of the body. For example, the middle part of the tongue corresponds to the stomach, while the tip of the tongue corresponds to the heart.

Trying foods that have a different taste - salty, bitter, sour or sweet, has a specific type of effect on the human body, with bitter foods considered to be the healthiest of all.

The turnip is a remarkable general strengthening vegetable that contains healthy organic acids, mineral salts, vitamins, amino acids, essential oils and more.

Consuming it leads to improved metabolism, a boosted immune system and it helps remove excess liquids from the body.

Horseradishes - a bacterial killer

Not having earned the name of "bacterial killer" by accident, horseradish has a bactericidal and antiseptic action. It needs to be eaten fresh - it can be grated and seasoned with lemon juice.

Throw in 2 tomatoes and a teaspoon of olive oil and what you have is a healthy salad ready to eat.


Horseradishes are not recommended for people who have gastrointestinal tract diseases or have suffered a heart attack.


Grapefruit has a high amount of inositol and pectin which burn fat naturally in the body. Regular consumption of grapefruit leads to improved appetite, improved digestion and the stimulation of liver function.

Plus it lowers cholesterol levels, tones the nervous system and gets rid of fatigue.



Coffee is rich in antioxidants that prevent the development of type II diabetes and liver cancer. Drinking coffee regularly in moderate doses stimulates the respiratory center of the brain, removes excess cholesterol from the body and helps us deal with stress. Additionally it contains vitally important minerals and micronutrients, fats and carbohydrates.

Consumption of coffee is not recommended for people who are suffering from cardiovascular diseases.


Beer is a tonic and healthy, the healthiest being bitter beer and in particular, unpasteurized, unfiltered, fresh, bitter beer. It contains antioxidants that prevent cataracts from appearing and developing in the eyes.

The foamy beverage regulates breathing and blood circulation, aids stomach function and dissolves stones in the kidneys. It has no contraindications, as long as the daily norm of 2 cups (500 mL) a day is not exceeded.
