There are different types of chips - potato, corn, wheat, and many extravagant varieties such as oak, but in practice chips can be made from many kinds of vegetables, even fruits (banana chips). When talking about the chips, however, in most cases we mean the product was prepared by frying thin slices of potato.

Recipe for homemade chips
Preparation: Peel the potatoes, cut them into thin rounds, about 2-3 mm, the easiest is to use a grater. Wash them well and leave them to dry.
