Heat the oil in a pot. Braise the finely chopped onions and coarsely chopped carrots. Saute until the veggies soften, add the lentils with plenty of hot water.
Add the peeled and chopped potatoes. Boil the dish until the potatoes soften and lentils are cooked.
Then add the tomato paste and stir. Season with salt, black pepper, savory and finally add the coarsely chopped garlic.
