Ingredients

  • semolina - 1 1/2 cup
  • oil - 1/2 cup
  • sugar - 1 cup or to taste
  • water - 2 cups
  • almonds - 1 cup peeled and lightly crumbled, can use walnuts
  • citric acid - 1 tbsp (15 g)
  • cinnamon - 1 stick

How to cook

Boil the oil and put the peeled almonds and the semolina in it. Fry until the almonds turn golden and the semolina reddens. In a separate pot, boil the water with the sugar. Add the cinnamon stick and citric acid.

Pour this over the fried semolina gently. Leave it aside until the semolina takes the syrup in. While the halva is hot, put it in forms at the bottom of which you've placed some chopped almonds.

When the halva cools, turn it over. Sprinkle the resulting shapes with powdered sugar.
