  • for the layer
  • eggs - 5
  • sugar - 1 cup
  • flour - 1 cup
  • vanilla - 1 packet (optional)
  • for the cream
  • sour cream - 1 2/3 cups (400 g)
  • liquid chocolate - 7 oz (200 g)
  • milk - for syruping, about 2 cups + a little sugar
  • bananas - 2 - 3

How to cook

First let me mention that the layer comes from the recipe called Easy Homemade Cake with Vanilla by Dark Angel – it becomes very fluffy (kudos for the great idea, I hope he doesn't get angry that I copied it :)

Separate the yolks of the eggs and beat them with 1/2 cup sugar and the other half of the sugar - with the whites to snow. Carefully mix the 2 parts and add the sifted flour (and vanilla). Mix gently.

Pour everything into a baking dish with baking paper or greased with oil and sprinkled with flour and bake at 356°F (180 °C) until golden. The layer increases in volume quite a lot.

Allow to cool and divide into 2 parts. Warm up the milk and sweeten it with sugar. Syrup the cooled layer with the warm milk; in my case it absorbed almost 1 cup. Do not overdo it though, don't make it too moist, it must not crumble apart.

Whip the sour cream with the liquid chocolate with a mixer and cover the syruped layer. Top with the sliced bananas. Then place the other layer on top, also syruped with milk.

Smear the entire cake with the remaining cream and decorate with bananas and cherries if desired, chocolate sprinkles, splashes of melted chocolate, you name it.

I guarantee that the layer will rise and the cake will turn out great. You can also use another type of cream, various fruits or syrup the cake with coffee, liqueur (Baileys), compote or sugar syrup - it depends on your taste, but make the layer the same way - you will not regret it.
