Preheat the oven to 302°F (150 °C) and prepare a form with removable sides with a diameter of about 10 1/4″ (26 cm). Blend the biscuits into crumbs in a blender and mix them with the melted butter. Spread this biscuit mixture on the bottom of the form and press well. Put this in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a large bowl, thoroughly mix the cottage cheese, cream cheese, sugar and vanilla. Then add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each. Finally add the cream and stir until you get a smooth mixture. Stirring needs to happen fairly quickly but not too fast. Pour thus prepared mixture over the biscuit base and smooth it out.
Put to bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes on a low oven setting. The finished cheesecake needs to be well baked but must also have a slightly creamy structure.
Allow the American cheesecake to cool and then put it in the refrigerator for 4 hours. Slide a knife along the edge of the form to separate the cheesecake from the walls.
Cut it into pieces and serve garnished with fresh fruit, jam, whipped cream, etc.
