"How many of these Christmas tree sweets are you going to decorate your plate with or are you on a diet?"

Ingredients

  • butter - 2/3 cup (150 g)
  • powdered sugar - 2/5 cup (100 g)
  • walnuts - 3 1/3 tbsp (50 g) or almonds
  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 1 1/2 cups
  • vanilla - 2 packets
  • jam - to stick the biscuits together, can use honey

How to cook

Beat the butter and sugar. Gradually add the ground almonds or walnuts, flour, cinnamon and vanilla. Knead a dough and spread it out on a floured surface. Roll out a thin sheet with a thickness of 1/16 (2 mm).

Using shapes of 3 sizes - large, medium and small, cut out the same number of biscuits from all 3 sizes. Using a spatula, carefully lift the biscuits and arrange them in a lightly greased baking tray with some spaces in between. Put to bake in moderately heated 360°F (180 °C) oven, until they get a pale pinkish tan.

When ready, let them cool and again very carefully lift them from the tray. They are fragile and can easily break. Stick the shapes together in 3s, with jam or honey - at the bottom place the large one, then the medium and finally - the small one. Thus you get the shape of a tree.

Sprinkle the Christmas tree sweets with powdered sugar if desired.
