Beat the egg whites with 1/3 of the sugar. Beat the yolks with the rest. Add the dry ingredients to the mixture. Then, using a silicone spatula, carefully add the beaten whites in parts so that the air does not come out of them.
Pour the mixture into a greased and floured baking dish. Bake in a preheated moderate oven. It's ready when if poked with a toothpick, it comes out dry.
Syrup it when cold, with equal parts water and sugar. Serve with whipped cream.
