Fast Baklava with Vanilla

  • phyllo pastry - 1 package
  • butter - 1 packet (1/2 cup (125 g))
  • walnuts - about 1 1/2 cups
  • vanilla - 1 ampule
  • sugar - 3 cups
  • water - 2 cups


Split the phyllo pastry into 2 equal parts. Sprinkle half of the sheets with 1/3 of the butter and half the coarsely ground walnuts. Wrap it well into a roll and repeat this process with the second half of the phyllo pastry sheets.

Cut the rolls into bite-sized pieces, about 1″ (2.5 cm), and arrange them in a greased tray, vertically. Sprinkle the top with the remaining 1/3 of the melted butter. Put the baklava to bake in a moderate oven at 356°F (180 °C) for 20-25 minutes or until it catches a nice pink tan.

Prepare a sugar syrup and boil it for several minutes. Allow it to cool slightly and pour it over the now cooled baklava. Sprinkle it with crushed nuts on top and serve after it sits for a bit.find similar recipes here
