Saute the onions in the oil, then add the rice and finely chopped tomatoes one at a time. To this mixture, add salt and pour in 1 cup of water. Leave on low heat until the water is absorbed.
Season the mixture with the rest of the spices and make the vine wraps. At the bottom of a pot, put several vine leaves, then arrange the folded, stuffed vine wraps. Put a plate on top to push them down and pour water in. Boil over medium heat until they're left in just oil.
Serve with yogurt and lemon slices.
