Fry the semolina in a little melted butter. Add the baking soda mixed with the milk and vanilla.
Mix, transfer to a buttered baking dish and bake in a moderate oven until golden. The cooled cake is poured over with the syrup from the already boiled 2 cups of water and 1 1/5 cups (300 g) of sugar.
Sprinkle with chopped nuts or powdered sugar.
