"If you`d like a fluffy and soft loaf - be sure to use lard."

Ingredients

  • flour - 2.21 lb (1 kg)
  • yeast - 1 cube
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • eggs - 4
  • water - 1 cup (250 ml) warm
  • cheese - 12.5 oz (350 g)
  • lard - 4/5 cup (200 g)

How to cook

Dissolve yeast in warm water with sugar and 4 tablespoons flour. Leave to rise in a warm place.

Sift flour and in a well in the middle pour the yeast, salt, 3 eggs + 1 egg white. Knead a soft dough, gradually grab flour from the edges. If necessary, use less than 2.21 lb (1 kg).

Transfer the dough to the kitchen counter or table and roll out to a square with a thickness of about 0.8″ (2 cm). Brush with 1/3 of the fat and sprinkle with 1/3 crumbled cheese. Fold like an envelope and roll out again to its original size.

Brush and sprinkle with cheese again, then fold like an envelope and repeat the procedure again without boring. Put in a buttered pan with the folded part at the bottom.

Cut into squares, brush with beaten egg yolk. Put cheese cake with lard to bake in the cold oven at 340°F (170 °C) until tender.
