Beat the eggs with sugar. Add the crushed walnuts and sifted flour. Mix gently with a wooden spoon and bake in a buttered and dusted with flour cake form.
Baking time is about 25-30 minutes in a preheated 356°F (180 °C) oven. Once cool, cut into two halves. Prepare the syrup by boiling the sugar with the water. Then moisten the cake with it and dab the inside and outside with cream if desired. The top can be covered with chocolate, or other glazing.
