Ingredients

  • phyllo pastry - 17.5 oz (500 g), ready - made sheets
  • butter - melted, for sprinkling
  • cream - liquid, for sprinkling
  • almonds - crushed
  • hazelnuts - crushed
  • sugar - 2 cups
  • water - 2 cups
  • lemons - 1 tablespoon grated zest, optional

How to cook

Grease a tray. Begin to stack the phyllo pastry sheets in it and sprinkle every 4-5 sheets with plenty of melted butter, cream, while also sprinkling crushed almonds and hazelnuts over the butter and cream every 6-7 sheets.

Put the baklava to bake in a moderate oven. Once cool, pour on hot syrup made from the water, sugar and grated lemon rind, which you've boiled for about 5 minutes.
