  • flour - 2 cups (500 g) white
  • butter - 2/5 cup (100 g) of blocks
  • sugar - 1/3 cup (80 g)
  • eggs - 1
  • vanilla - 1 packet
  • lemons - juice of 1 lemon
  • milk - 4/5 cup (180 ml)
  • yeast - 1 cube
  • vinegar - 1/2 tsp

How to cook

Dissolve the yeast in a little warm water, a pinch of sugar and a few drops of vinegar. Add a little flour, mix it up and let it rise in a warm place. Once effervescent, add all the other products to it and knead a smooth dough. It needs to be smooth and homogeneous.

Cover it with a cloth and leave it to rise well in a warm place, until doubled in volume. Knead again with a little flour and shape it into a long strand with your hands. Weave the strand like a plait. Put it in a warm place to rise once more for about 20 minutes.

Then smear it with beaten a egg white and optionally, sprinkle it with granulated sugar, chopped nuts, etc. Put this homemade cozonac to bake for about 40 minutes in a preheated 356°F (180 °C) oven.
