Ingredients

  • flour - 2 lb (1 kg) white
  • yeast - 3 1/3 tbsp (50 g)
  • garlic - 1.5 oz (50 g), crushed
  • water - 2 cups (500 ml) lukewarm
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • olive oil - 3 1/3 tbsp (50 ml)
  • oregano - 1 tsp, dried

How to cook

Dissolve the yeast and sugar in lukewarm water and allow to rise for about 15 minutes. Sift the flour into a large bowl and clean the garlic cloves. Add the salt to the flour, olive oil and oregano.

Crush the garlic very finely or grate it on a grater and put it into the bowl. Gradually add the water with yeast to the dough. Grease and sprinkle a tray with flour. Distribute the dough in it and let it rise.

Put the risen garlic bread in to bake in a heated to about 350°F (175 °C) oven until it gets a nice golden crust.
