The butter, sugar and vanilla are whipped continuously until you get a smooth cream. Add eggs one at a time and beat everything well. Separately, mix the flour with baking powder and gradually add it to the other mixture. Stir with a spoon and add the milk.
Pour the finished mixture into a buttered form with a 7″ (18 cm) diameter and removable walls. Tightly pack sour cherries on top. Stir the breadcrumbs, sugar, cinnamon and butter together, and mash with your fingers. You must obtain homogeneous crumbs.
Sprinkle the crumbs over the sour cherries. Put the pie to bake in a pre-heated oven at 356°F (180 °C) for about 1 hour. Finally, check with a stick to see if it is well baked. Let the finished pie cool and remove the walls. Optionally, sprinkle it with powdered sugar.
You can also bake it in a regular tray.
