How to cook
The beetroot, potatoes and carrots are cleaned, washed and boiled separately.
Finely chop the onion and marinate it for 5 minutes with the vinegar.
Boil the eggs as well.
Leave the boiled vegetables to cool and grate them, season them with salt and mix them.
Cut the herring into small pieces.
Start assembling the savory cake. On the first row, spread the potatoes, smear them with mayonnaise, then add the herring, again spread with mayonnaise, onion, mayonnaise, carrots, mayonnaise, beetroot and mayonnaise.
Finish off with grated eggs on top. Leave the cake in the fridge for 2-3 hours.
The russian herring cake is ready.
