Ingredients

  • soya sauce - 8 tablespoons
  • vinegar - 2 tablespoons, light, rice
  • peanut butter - 4 tablespoons or soybean paste
  • honey - 2 tablespoons, can use molasses or brown sugar
  • garlic - about 1/4 tsp powdered or grated fresh garlic
  • sesame oil - 4 tablespoons
  • chilli peppers - chili pepper paste, hot sauce, or tabasco, to taste
  • black pepper - to taste

Preparation

Combine all the ingredients alternately in a suitable bowl. Begin stirring patiently until you get a homogeneous mixture (about 4-5 minutes) or a thick sauce.

To make it easier, you can use a food processor in which to mix the ingredients. Hoisin sauce is traditionally used for Peking duck and marinating meats.
