From the products for the layer, knead a medium hard dough, divide it into 3 parts and roll out each one into a thin sheet. Bake them in a large, buttered tray in a moderate oven.
Smear the prepared cream over the baked sheets, stack them one on top of the other and cover with a moist towel. Let them sit that way for one night. The next morning, sprinkle the cake with powdered sugar.
Preparation of the cream: Dilute the flour with half of the cold milk. Boil the rest of the milk with the vanilla. While stirring nonstop, add the diluted flour to the hot milk.
Once the cream thickens enough, leave it in a cool area. Beat the powdered sugar and butter with a mixer until whitened and add this to the rest of the cream.
