  • flour - 2 lb (1 kg)
  • eggs - 2 + 1 yolk for smearing
  • yoghurt - 1 cup (250 g)
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 pinch
  • oil - 2 tbsp, or butter
  • water - 1 cup, cool, for kneading


Sift the flour twice and mix it with the baking soda. Pour the salt in a well in the middle. Separately, beat the yoghurt and eggs with the oil and sugar.

Add this mixture to the well and gradually knead a dough, adding enough water to get it smooth and soft. Keep kneading until bubbles appear on the dough.

From thus prepared dough, form round pitas; you can use a bit of the dough to make different decorations, suitable for the holiday.

The decoration of the pita is the fruit of your imagination and abilities. Smear the ready pita with the egg yolk and let it sit for 30 min. Put it to bake in a moderately heated oven.
